It’s a beautiful day in NY and I am loving the fact that I’m not stuck in an office for the day light hours. I think you know which choice I made. I decided to rough it out and pursue my dreams. Yes, I’m going full steam ahead! It’s such a strange concept to actually be doing what I want with my life. I’m so stuck in writing myself ‘should scripts’ that sometimes I lose touch with what will make me happy. Following my dreams, btw, will result in many hard, panicky days but I think it’ll be worth it. I have an amazing support system around me and feel really fortunate to be able to consider this. I’m gearing up to apply for a mentorship program and launch a Kickstarter-like campaign to raise capital so I’m really excited about that.

Today, I went to H. H. Brown and checked out their Spring Collection. There were tons of good stuff. I loved the luxurious leather and comfortable looking soles on the shoes.

Then, I stopped by Robert Rodriguez’s showroom and drooled over his Fall collection. I LOVED the clothes! Really chic with bits of edge, here and there.

Later on, I’m heading to Lesters on the Upper East Side for an event, then finishing the day off with a party with Nanette Lepore and Project Runway. In the midst of all this fun, I’m really enjoying the warm weather in NYC, today. Spring just has a way of making me smile. It’s awesome.

Seems like every time I post, it’s about a big change in my life. lol…. It has been a pretty rapid year for the last 12 months. I started blogging more full-time for www.ladyandtheblog.com and www.imnotobsessed.com and I’m also working with www.gettinggorgeousevents.com. I left my job at Tahari to blog. For the last couple weeks at Tahari, when I was telling people, they looked at me like I was crazy. To them, blogging is a past-time, not a job. It used to be for me, too. I love attending events, meeting people, taking pics and writing about it. The chance to do this for a living is still unbelievable to me. I also really believe in the brand that I’m working for. It’s made up of incredibly strong, hard-working, I’m-gonna-take-life-by-the-horns kind of women. I look at them and I see them juggling their careers with their families. The families seem to always be the priority. They love their kids and it shows. Everything they do with their career is done with their kids in mind. That’s how I want to be. I never want to be so caught up in a job that I forget that my kids (when they come) are the most important part of my life.

It’s been amazing so far. The owners of Getting Gorgeous Events walked in the Strut: The Fashionable Mom Show at Lincoln Center and I was so excited to see moms being stylish and rejecting this idea that style goes out the window after motherhood. It was so incredible!

This past week, I met with Chrissy Teigen to talk about her work with Gillette Venus and Olay. So gorgeous and funny, too. Her laugh stood out in the room. I checked out her food blog and this model eats! I love it!! They played music from her fiance, John Legend, all night.

A few weeks ago, I interviewed Khloe Kardashian and we talked about her involvement with U by Kotex. I don’t have a TV so I haven’t seen Khloe & Lamar but talking with her and hearing about how she prioritizes her husband and her family made me happy that young girls are looking to her as a role model. If the world is obsessed with her family, at least she’s doing something positive with it. She was really personable and nice, during the interview. This is us, comparing jewelry.

Working at home has been interesting! I set my own schedule, which I haven’t done yet. I’ve sort of been trying to work as much as possible. It’s challenging to be your own boss. The flip side is priceless, though. I wake up on an average day when I have no events, put the kettle on with water for tea, get on my computer and start blogging and working. I break at 12, watch TV on my laptop while I eat lunch, then start work again at 1. My stress level is a million times lower. I don’t speed. I can’t even tell you how different that is for me. Things are going to get more hectic in March, for sure, but I love working with my bosses and I really believe in this movement of empowered moms, working from home and making work fit into their lives, instead of the other way around.

Am I done with designing clothes? Not quite yet! Hopefully, I can tell you more on that in the next coming months.

So this year Machel in everything like salt, with vocals on numerous Carnival Soca 2012 Riddims this one man machine is definitely going to be a formidable force in Soca this year… no surprise there. Check out his latest video for what is now considered the “Power Soca” genre in Trinidad – Mr. Fete… leave your thoughts in the comments.

I’ve been a blogger for ladyandtheblog.com and thexcene.com (and a few others here and there) for the past 3ish years and I LOVE it. I love writing and I love meeting awesome peeps at the events I cover. I’ve gone to Scottsdale and LA to cover events and I love how supportive and close-knit the blogging community is. I’ve interviewed Kelly Ripa and the cast of Glee, met Jason Lee and more. Blogging is one of my favorite parts of my life. So as of February 7th, I’ll be blogging more for ladyandtheblog.com. As opposed to a fun past-time, it’s now going to be my job. I’m so excited!!! I love design and don’t intend to stop designing but getting to do something I love for a living is the whole reason I went back to FIT. I’m so excited and grateful for this opportunity. As it turns out, I’ll be starting right in time for NY Fashion Week so it’s going to be really crazy for a bit. NY Fashion Week crazy is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. Rushing from show to show and sneaking in food whenever you can, while reviewing lines that have set up shop in the surrounding hotels is really fun. Then, there’s the 15 minutes that you sit and watch the show. It makes my heart flutter and renews my faith and love for fashion. It’s just so incredible. I can hardly believe that all I’ll be doing for the week is going to shows! Blogging has always been a side gig for me. It’s just so incredible to be able to do it for a living.
